Introduction to Flexible Windbreak and Dust Suppression Net

The flexible windbreak and dust suppression net is an efficient environmental protection facility used to control dust emissions from open stockyards. It is also known as a windbreak net or dust suppression net. It is a more economical and more flexible solution compared to traditional rigid windbreak nets.

Materials and Types
Flexible windbreak and dust suppression nets can be divided into two main types based on material. The first type is the polyethylene (PE) net, the most common type, which is mainly made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) along with additives such as UV stabilizers and flame retardants to improve overall performance. The standard width is 4 meters, and colors include green, grey, and black. It is often used for coal yard enclosures and as roofing material for enclosed coal sheds. The second type is the polyester (PET) net, which is made from high-strength polyester fiber, usually sky blue. It features outstanding corrosion resistance and anti-aging capability, and meets the national standard for B1 grade flame retardancy, ensuring high safety. In addition, its open area ratio and tensile strength are defined by clear specifications; the dust suppression efficiency can reach 75% to 90%, and the filtration efficiency is at least 80%.


Working Principle

The working principle is based on aerodynamics. By optimizing the open area ratio of the net, generally between 30% and 50%, strong winds are transformed into weaker breezes inside, making it difficult for dust particles to become airborne, thus achieving dust suppression. Some double-layer net systems can also use electrostatic charge generated by airflow friction to capture tiny dust particles, further improving performance.

Performance Characteristics
The flexible windbreak net offers excellent dust suppression efficiency. A single layer can achieve 65% to 85% efficiency, while double-layer nets with patented technology can reach over 90% efficiency, effectively controlling fugitive dust.

It is economical and easy to maintain. The raw material cost is much lower than that of rigid windbreak nets. It can be installed flexibly on sites of various shapes and spans. It is easy to transport and repair. The product is flexible and woven, so it is not easily damaged; even if damaged, the unique knot construction allows for simple repairs.

In terms of safety and environmental friendliness, the net contains flame retardants with a burn time typically greater than 4 seconds, and some types meet the B1 flame retardancy standard. UV stabilizers are added to the material, giving a service life generally ranging from 5 to 15 years or longer. It works physically without electricity and produces no secondary pollution. The net can also be made in different colors, such as green or black, and double-colored nets help beautify the landscape.

The physical properties are also excellent. The tensile strength can reach 220 KN/MM, meeting relevant national standards and withstanding strong winds and other external forces. The net has excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, corrosion, and moisture, allowing it to perform well in harsh natural environments. As a flexible material, it absorbs wind energy, is not easily damaged, and can withstand hail impact.

Applications
The main industrial applications include dust control for bulk material stockpiles in coal, power, ports, steel, cement, and chemical industries. In agriculture and ecology, the net can create microclimates for crops or reduce sand accumulation in desertification areas. In transportation and municipal works, it is used for dust prevention at railway or highway coal yards, construction sites, and along highways. Recently, new applications have emerged, such as covering cargo in ports and as roofing material for enclosed coal sheds.
